Our Story

I'm not a farmer, I'm a producer. My goal is to make blueberries cool and delicious. Blueberries are one of the best fruits you can eat.

The "aha!" moment hit me on the way home from vacation. We had been in Canada where our boys had been at a hockey camp. We had a great time and had a fantastic stay with a couple that was ever so hospitable to our family. Steve, my husband, and I were talking, and I said I really need to send our hosts “something” as a thank you. He suggested a great little company that has awesome fruit products. As I looked side to side out our car window, I surely didn’t see any cherry trees. I saw blueberry bushes...acres and acres of blueberry bushes for as far as I could see. I replied to him, “I really need to create Blueberry Haven.”

So my quest began. I found lots of local blueberry farmers, a local commercial kitchen with food producers (a mom and daughter team), an artist, an attorney, an accountant and a web designer. I had some free labor: 3 boys who play hockey always on the lookout for ways to earn money for the ever pricey skates, sticks and whatever else they might need. I went to town creating ideas for products and packaging, then began marketing Blueberry Haven products that are all about the blueberry, Michigan’s west coast fruit of choice.

Blueberry Haven hopes to make blueberries the coolest fruit and with all they hype on antioxidants and how a hand-full of blueberries is just as effective as a glass of red wine, we think we’ve found our niche.
